Sheffield based Height Safety specialists Eurosafe have recently completed the installation of 51 Ascent™ladders and stair units at the new Astra Zeneca Discovery Centre (DISC) in Cambridge. The state of the art research and development (R&D) facility designed by Swiss studio Herzog & de Meuron is to the world’s highest environmental standard and accommodates over 2,200 research scientists.
Safety Fabrications worked with both Eurosafe and the main cladding package contractor Permasteelisa to finalise the design of the ladder / stair unit. Each unit is manufactured in 6082-T6 structural aluminium which is then powder coat finished to match the main roof cladding. The result is a stunning building befitting the cutting-edge R&D facility.
Safety Fabrications had to undergo strict vetting procedures prior to undertaking this project. CE accreditation for the product backed by BS EN 1090 & 3834 Factory Production control procedures were all necessary.
